Balanced
Living a balanced life is very important. However, it's not always easy.
I get it.
Sometimes, I'm not able to eat right, get all my school work done, go to church two times a week and get to the gym, all while prioritizing important relationships and making time for myself. Life is hard! It gets really overwhelming and with that usually comes a lot of emotion. But, it's okay. We are human and we should all cut ourselves a little slack. However, there is always something you can do to ease the tension of our [usually] messy lives.
is a certain power that washes over you when you know you look nice. It seems to be the one thing that makes anything feel possible.
The other day I [was supposed to] received my geology test back. [I did not... I'm salty... still praying for an A.] I was really nervous about this; it was our first test and while, I studied really hard I just wasn't sure if it'd be enough. So, I decided to put a little extra effort into my ensemble that day than I usually would've. I knew that even if I hadn't done as well as I anticipated at least I could walk out confidently knowing I looked and felt beautiful.
And I did.
I posted a photo to my Instagram story (@Krb_11) and a friend of mine told me I should start a fashion blog "because you're always stylin," he said. (Thank you Corey, lol.)
I figured, why not?! I already have a blog, I love piecing outfits together and this way I'll be able to get fun content out more regularly.
The point is!
As my first lesson; just like life, it's important to keep your outfits balanced.
Pictured here, you'll see me acting like a goofball (as per usual) wearing a few of my favorite yet simple pieces. However, styled together they look classy and aesthetically pleasing.
First, I decided to keep the actual garments plain and then layer lots of accessories to dress it up. I'm wearing my favorite ripped jeans from American Eagle [prices listed below.] I paired these with a relaxed white TEE from Abercrombie & Fitch, finally I topped it off with my white chuck taylors.
Pretty easy right?! We all have a white T shirt and some boyfriend/ straight jeans and white Chuck's. However, what makes this outfit unique is the jewelry.
I wore a gold choker paired with a long gold necklace, and I mixed my metals wearing my favorite wishbone necklace and a cross charm. Then, on both my wrists I wore 2-4 Alex and Ani bracelets, both silver and gold with a full charm Pandora bracelet to match. For my hands, I wore lots of rings gold and silver; I had about three on each hand layered on different fingers. Finally, I wore red nail polish. (Something about red makes you feel confident and sassy in it's own right.)
Layering your jewelry will give you an edgy and more casual vibe. However, it's all about balance, remember? You can add a lot of different accessories but you can't go crazy, otherwise it will be too busy and you'll ruin the look.
To combat all the jewelry, I kept my makeup very matte. I applied mostly brown and gold tones to tie in with my gold jewelry and a little blue underneath my lash line to give it a pop of color. To finish it off, I wore a nude gloss by NYX.
See? Balance. I did more dramatic eyes, but I kept my lips simple so it wasn't too heavy.
As for my hair, I curled it with a one inch curling iron to give me tousled relaxed waves. I wanted everyone to focus on the outfit, but I didn't want it to look unbalanced with unfinished hair. See what I'm getting at?
The idea of simple meeting glamorous may be a bit daunting. However, if you pay attention to the little details such as: nails, eyes, hair, jewelry etc. and you balance it all together appropriately you'll feel more put together and ready to take on the day. I hope you can see here that accomplishing that is a very easy task.
