Shadow

Image
When I was a kid I knew some friends that were afraid of their shadow. I thought that was really odd. I could understand being afraid of the dark, you never knew what was lurking in there, but... A shadow? Were they serious? It really confused me, until I got a phone and with that, all the social media it comes with. Just like my friends, as kids, were afraid of the darkness following them, I’ve learned about the real danger of a digital shadow. Everything that you do online can and will follow you. If you spell something wrong, it will affect you. If you have bad grammar, it will affect you if you post a photo drinking, it will affect you. Everything you do online makes your shadow a little bit bigger. Your online presence is a reflection of who you are, weather what’s online about you is true or not, people will form opinions. Usually, what others think of you shouldn’t matter. However, what does matter is if you get a job or not. Your employers are always watching and e...

What is your online identity? Are you a traveler? Are you a student? Are you a christian? Are you a partier? None of these things are bad. However, is it true? Does it reflect who you are? Are you proud of the person you are online? These may seem like silly questions. However, what we consider silly sometimes gets pushed under the rug to think about at a later time.Like a meme. You’re scrolling through twitter, you see something funny and then you get over it and move on. Although, this is a little more important than a meme or a nostalgic vine. It’s who we are and all too often our generation forgets that what we put online can really impact our future. Online I am Kristie Rose. However, depending on where you see my profiles you may not always get the same version her. I never lie. However, I just choose to share certain things on different platforms. For example, on instagram I am a happy traveler, a student and a sister. On twitter I’m an encouraging christian and here...

Today, I was thinking about hair. To be more specific, I was thinking about my hair, the hair on my head and how long it was getting. Weird, I know, but that’s what I was doing. Anyways, I thought it looked pretty and I wondered the last time it had been this long. The answer was, really freaking long, like 3 years long. My hair and I have a complicated relationship. I go through a time where I want it to be really long. I try to grow it out,  but then I get impatient and chop it all off. It looks super cute and messy and I love it, until I don’t and then I try to grow it out. I do it all. I buy special shampoo, I take vitamins and I avoid the hairdresser like it's the plague of 21st century. It gets old really, really fast and so I cut it again. This happens two to three times a year. Right now I’m doing pretty well, I’ve almost caved a few times. However, this time has been different, I haven’t cut it in almost a year. Rest assured, the point of t...

Be here NOW.

"where you are is now the best place to be." I was praying about wanting adventure and being frustrated with my physical location because here , doesn't offer much of that. But, when God responded I knew He wasn't talking about school, or my dorm, or in this chair. He wanted to go deeper, He wanted to find out what I was really craving deep inside my heart. Relationship . This year, I really wanted to prioritize 4 things; my friendships, school, the gym, but especially reading scripture. I had gotten really lazy with this. I felt like prayer was enough. I was so wrong. How was I supposed to protect myself against the enemy and his lies if I wasn't flooding my heart with God and His truth? I started reading as soon as I got back to school, thinking it would magically make everything perfect. Wrong again. The whole reason I made these resolutions was so I could  live a more balanced lifestyle. As I started, God revealed areas in my life that needed som...

Strong

I've had a lot on my heart these past couple weeks and if I'm honest I really have no idea where this blogpost is going, all I know is it's probably gonna mention the word 'strength' a time or two. Here goes...  "There is no one stronger." (Alright off to a pretty good start.) When I heard that in worship the other day, everything kind of just clicked for me.  I'm sure we've all experienced this, maybe in math. Theres this concept that you can not understand for the life of you, but then one day a teacher figures out a way to explain it differently and you just... get it . Or, maybe you don't and math is just really hard. Same. But maybe you've experienced this with english class or driving.  I remember in high school I was learning how to drive stick shift, right around the same time my best friend, Meghan, was too. I was driving my moms car and she had her own, so she got to practice more frequently and picked it ...
